• Tuesday the 13th: Morzine-Avoriaz – Saint-Jean de Maurienne

The boys are back in town…

The Pass’ Portes 2009 is taking place on the weekend of the 27th and 28th of June. Registration has just opened today, Tuesday 10th February… but hurry, the event fills up very quickly!

You can find all the details on the revamped website:
This year, Morzine will be hosting the bike show in the streets.

Following launch parties in Annecy and then Morzine, Annecy is now officially one of the 4 French candidates for hosting the 2018 Winter Olympics. If the C.N.O.S.F. (French Olympic Committee) chooses Annecy and then convinces the I.O.C. then Morzine/Avoriaz will host the women’s ski competitions… fingers crossed!

More details here.

Day off today… I grabed the RFX and a map and off I went for a bit of exploring! A good occasion to ride some trails I’ve only heard of so far… great! For you all technical singletrack fans, I have a few gems to offer!

Right, it’s time to go back to the sofa and enjoy the Olympics, it’s a day off after all!

Not what you buy on street corners in the US but an inflatable canoe, which also makes it very forgiving. We tried it out for you with the laid back but very pro team of Eaux~zone  in Thonon… it was great fun! If you are looking for a break from your MTB hollidays, go for it, it’s… refreshing!

Team work

Sam throwing some style

Considering the great quality of pictures you’re sending me, I thought it is only fair to offer a prize to the best photo of the season.  It could be the most beautiful, funniest, most original or emotive, it’s up to you, the only condition is it has to be shot during a day riding with RideAbility, in the Portes du Soleil or Pyrénées… I’ll put the best ones up on the gallery and the photo of the season will win a free WideOpen DVD so on your marks, get set… snap!

All the lifts are now open!! Which, with the great weather, explains why I’ve been quiet recently… I’m too busy riding!

A few top riders have been spotted getting the most of the Pleney… the whole Intense/CRC team (Kovarik, Camellini, Cunningham, Simmonds), Nico Vink (Trek/Dolphin), Flo Pugin (IH/Playbike) and Joe Barnes ( who has been trying to beat the record set up by Glen Hadden… 36 runs in one day! C. Kovarik has managed to do 9 runs down the Pleney DH track in 1h54min… chainless!
